Yoga Therapist Caroline McCarter (RYT 500) offers practical, efficient, and effective tools to structure personalized yoga programs for different needs, such as strength and flexibility, as well as overall health and wellness. Her aim is to bring about the health and mental steadiness most suited to each individual. Caroline creates a home practice for each client according to their health needs. It can be anywhere from internal needs such as fibromyalgia, seizures, etc... to structural issues such as scoliosis or arthritis -- but also mental steadiness for anxiety, depression, addictions etc.. We focus on those and also the clients personal desires (flexibility, strength, meditation, and more). The program is set to their particular schedule and time frame for to be able to practice at home for self-care. Caroline also specializes in using Yoga as a treatment for body image issues and Eating Disorders. She currently offers an ongoing Yoga Therapy group for Women which includes not just yoga, but also group discussions, journaling, relaxation, etc...

Bio:
Caroline McCarter has been practing yoga for 15 years, but it became more of an interest to her after taking a college yoga philosophy course in 1997 during her undergraduate years at University of Michigan. At that time, she was focusing on becoming a musician and librarian, a pursuit which she continued earning her a Masters degree in Library and Information Science in 2001. But over the years, as she continued to practice yoga on her own, Caroline became more and more aware of the self-actualizing effects of her yoga practice. In particular, she noticed how it drew her focus to the inner workings of her body, rather than its outside appearance. With that discovery, Caroline became passionate about helping others like her in the world; people with false perceptions about themselves that come with body image obsessions and disordered eating patterns. She views yoga as a vehicle for healing and has made yoga therapy her life's work.
